About us

Living Well is a Healthy Living project run by Hornsea United Reformed Church.

We are a community group based at Hornsea United Reformed Church, New Road, Hornsea, which is committed to tackling and trying to overcome isolation in our community. To do this we try to support isolated individuals, to provide a pathway back into active community life and in so doing we seek to build healthier communities, for the benefit of all.

The Living Well project provides two main services:

  • A monthly lunch, to which transport is provided. Lunches are usually followed by activities promoting healthy living and community engagement
  • A Telephone Support Network which provides a weekly call to offer support and a friendly chat.
Many of our participants are supported through both of these services.
  • We provide other events and activities which support community engagement.

We support participants who have become isolated through:

Age
Mobility Issues
Being a carer
Mental health issues
Learning difficulties
Our lunches are offered to those living in Hornsea, or in the villages immediately outside Hornsea. Our Telephone Support Network operates over The East Riding of Yorkshire.

Our participants are referred to us by partner organisations and individuals. A partner organization can be a health or social care agency, a charity or a community organization or group. Concerned individuals, neighbours, friends or family members can also refer an individual to us.

Where appropriate, we support our participants to become active volunteers

Although it is organized and managed by Hornsea United Reformed Church, we support people of all faiths, and of none. Many of our volunteers and most of our participants come from beyond the church congregation.

We are funded by The East Riding of Yorkshire Council and The United Reformed Church
